When can you say , "If the worse possible thing happens and my team looses all the rest of their games,  and the other team wins all the rest of their games, we're still in the playoffs (or we're still the champions) we are guaranteed to come out ahead of them.

What is the formula that tells us when that will happen?

Look to see how many games my team won. (It doesn't matter how many they lost.

The I look to see how many games the other team lost (it doesn't matter how many they won.)

I then take my team's victories and add it to the other teams losses, the subtract that from the number of games in the season plus 1.

(m + 1) - (w + l) = the magic number
