What is the mission of Trinitytutors.com?

My goal is to publish virtually anything and everything parents might need to teach their children at home, using formats that allow each document to be printed directly from my website -- at no cost.

What do you provide?

I offer easy-to-use, professionally-designed worksheets and other “a la carte” materials, as well as complete courses for entire grade levels.

What are the components of your program?

Among my offerings are the following:

1. PACING CALENDARS / DAY-BY-DAY SCHEDULES
Calendars and lesson planners for each grade, deliniating what to do and when to do it

2. COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENTS
Simple diagnostic examinations as well as cumulative tests and unit assessments

3. TEACHER’S MANUALS
I’ve made a concerted effort to ensure that each of my helpful teacher’s manuals provides you with stripped-down, no-frills, easy-to-read and easy-to-use, step-by-step instructions on how to teach each lesson.

A unique aspect of all my manuals is that they not only guide you in administering the program, but also include all of the necessary components for delivering basic instruction in one convenient location:

  • teacher’s guides
  • specially prepared student notes
  • worksheets
  • answer keys

Why doesn’t your program assign homework?

Since the program deals with the skills and concepts being learned and requires the learner to provide evidence of his or her mastery during the course of instruction, there is no need for homework during the elementary years.

Is homeschooling legal in the United States?

Yes it is, but under varying conditions. Some states require you to register with the appropriate authorities. Most allow a range of options by which to show you are making a good-faith effort to homeschool. Some states also require certain subjects to be taught.

Is there a particular mandated curriculum?

In most states you can use any curriculum you please, however, in some states your curriculum must meet certain minimum standards (teaching subjects sequentially and progressively, etc.). Your state may require you to spend a certain number of hours on certain subjects, but will probably not stipulate the precise materials or method you have to use in teaching those subjects.

How do I know if I’m in compliance?

Check with your state homeschool group for their recommendations. Or better yet, check for the most recent listing of the laws governing your state at www.hslda.org./central/states/.

What about college?

What about it? (Just kidding. Check back in August 2006 and I'll have my response to this question.)
