There are those who would say Exodus 34:14 could be interpreted something like this:

"You must not worship any other gods. For the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God that is passionate about his relationship with you."

This is in part why a number of believers claim Christianity is not about religion (defined as man's efforts to earn God's acceptance) but about a relationship, initiated not my man, but God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
