LESSON 1: WHAT IS CHRISTIANITY?

Briefly stated, Christianity is a particular set of beliefs about God, the world, our lives on this planet and what follows after death. This class will present what some would agree are the most important aspects of the Christian faith, chief among them being the belief that there is only one God.

LESSON 2: ANOTHER ESSENTIAL TENET OF THE FAITH
In addition to the belief there is only one God (who is "triune" in nature), Christianity also holds that it is this God who is responsible for the origin of the universe.

LESSON 3: COMPONENTS OF THE CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW
If we were to try to summarize the Christian world view in as few words as possible we might say that all of history is about God reconciling mankind to Himself, with the reality of sin behind every problem on our planet, the answer to which is the Messiah, Jesus Christ, Son of the living God.

LESSON 4: WHAT IS "THE GOSPEL?"
Central to the Chirstian faith is the gospel message or "good news," summarized briefly in this video clip featuring Pastor Mark Driscoll.

LESSON 5: WHY BELIEVE THE BIBLE?
What the Bible says is of little consequence unless it is true. Fortunately, we can be confident we have accurate renditions of the Bible not only because of the vast number of early manuscripts, but also because of the relatively short time span between the completion of the original documents and the creation of our earliest still existing copies. Moreover, the Bible is primarily composed of eyewitness accounts, so as you might expect, it is historically reliable (with archeology both confirming and affirming its accuracy). Finally, the Bible is replete with fulfilled prophecies, making it statistically impossible to have been authored without the divine inspiration of an omnipresent, all-knowing God.

LESSON 6: THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS
Someone once said the problem with religion is no one knows which one of them is the right one until they die. However, the resurection of Jesus Christ renders that statement totally false.

LESSON 7: NOT A RELIGION, BUT A RELATIONSHIP
There are those who would say Exodus 34:14 could be interpreted something like this:

"You must not worship any other other gods, for the Lord, whose very name is Jealous, is a God who is passionate about his relationship with you."

This is in part why a number of believers claim Christianity is not about religion (defined as man's efforts to earn God's acceptance) but about a relationship initiated not my man—but God—through His Son, Jesus Christ, by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.

LESSON 8: THE PLACE OF PRAYER
For the believer, God is, among other things, Father, friend, comforter, protector and instructor. As such, it is natural to be often engaged in conversation with Him. Such is the nature of a close and intimate relationship.

LESSON 9: CREATED FOR A PURPOSE
One of at least four things we need to make life worth living is an eternal purpose, which we find, quite frankly, by living for Christ and others to the glory of God.

LESSON 10: WHAT ABOUT OTHER RELIGIONS
These two resentations from Frank Peretti deal with the problem of sin, the doctrine of demons, and the work of Christ.

LESSON 11: WORSHIP
At TrinityTutors we say worship is anything we do that demonstrates to God He is more important than anything else in this world.

REVIEW:

So, what have we learned thus far?

To this point, we have learned that Christianity is simply a particular set of beliefs about God, the universe, life in gerneral, and what happens after death. Chief among these bliefs is that there is only one God, who is triune in nature and created the universe, including mankind, whom He designed for relationship and purpose, exemplified in part by prayer and worship, and by serving Christ and others to the glory of God.

Unfortunately, mankind's sin placed a wall between people and God, with all of history being the story of God's reconciling mankind back to Himself, through His Son, Jesus Christ, by the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.
